Repointing

Making your mortar as good as new

Repointing

Repointing is refilling these worn and weathered mortar joints. Although it will improve the appearance of the property considerably, it will help to stop rainwater from making its way inside the wall and will also carry moisture away from the masonry.

How does Repointing improve my home?

Rainwater that falls on your home can be absorbed by the stone, brick, or mortar, and some of it can seep into the wall. When the rain has stopped, this moisture needs to be able to escape. Part of the solution is to allow the moisture to pass through permeable mortar joints and into the atmosphere.

If the joints are unable to carry this water, the moisture will concentrate on the masonry, massively increasing the risk of frost damage or other issues. It will increase the amount of water retained in the brickwork and will contribute to the home being colder consequently increasing your energy bills.

When combined with our masonry creme, this will protect your home, improve its appearance and lower your energy bills as your home will need less energy to maintain a comfortable temperature.
